Arena Labs is Born: A Human Performance Company for Healthcare

CLEVELAND, OH – February 17, 2017 – Arena Labs, a new human performance company focused exclusively in frontline healthcare, has been founded through a groundbreaking collaboration between Brian Ferguson and Dr. Doug Johnston, a renowned heart surgeon and early champion at the Cleveland Clinic.

Arena Labs will focus on building innovative solutions to enhance physician performance across high stress, high consequence fields of medicine such as heart surgery. Building on prior collaboration, including work with Cleveland Clinic Innovations to develop cutting-edge intellectual property in virtual reality and 360-degree video for heart surgery decision-making, the company will expand to apply its consulting services to Cleveland Clinic’s satellite facilities across Ohio.

“By applying proven techniques from elite military units, world-class athletes, and creative performers to medicine, we can push the boundaries of what’s possible in the operating room and beyond,” said Brian Ferguson, CEO of Arena Labs.

“We’re at the beginning of a collaboration that has major potential to change the way healthcare thinks about preparing and training the human system,” says Dr. Johnston. “We are overdue for this fresh perspective that brings in the experience and wisdom of people who have performed at the highest levels in other high-stress, high-stakes environments. The concept and tools of High Performance Medicine (R) are rare in bringing deeply unique and personal value to every person in frontline healthcare.”

Arena Labs will be headquartered in Southern California, with plans to expand nationally.
